What does Personal Trainer do?

Build custom training plans

Pick your training days, name them (Chest Day, Leg Day, Pull Day), fill each with movements from the library. Every exercise carries muscle targeting, form descriptions, one-tap YouTube form-check, and load recommendations for novice, intermediate, and expert.

Track every set

Log weight, reps, difficulty. Quick-log a set from any exercise page without starting a full session. Personal records are detected automatically. Built-in rest timer (15s–10min) with audible bell, plus a work timer with tempo markers.

Smart progressive overload

After every set the app proposes your next weight based on the last difficulty rating. Suggestions rounded to standard plate increments. Too easy bumps you up, too hard dials you back.

Train with friends, or solo

Friend codes, a shared leaderboard for Total lifted / Sets / Time / Daily Challenges over week, month, year. Share plans and custom movements. Hide your stats anytime. The whole app works without ever adding a friend.

Monitor progress

Workout history with volume, sets, tonnage per session. PR tracker, weekly charts, 72-hour muscle recovery tracker across 15 groups, longest training streak, and a Muscle Museum that surfaces gaps.

Works offline. Syncs when ready.

Local-first storage. Optional, encrypted cloud sync backs you up across devices. Dark theme tuned for gym lighting, haptics on interactions, weights in kg or lbs.

What’s inside Personal Trainer?

A real session with Personal Trainer

Marcus trains three days a week after work. He doesn't have a coach and doesn't want a subscription. Here's what his Monday push day looks like inside the app.

6:45 PM · Arriving at the gym

Marcus opens Personal Trainer in the locker room. His push plan loads instantly, no login screen, no feed, no ads. He sees bench press is first, with last week's numbers pre-filled: 80 kg × 5 reps. The app flagged his right chest as still in the 24-hour recovery window, so it reminds him to warm up before loading.

7:00 PM · First working set

He logs 80 kg × 6. The app catches the new rep PR and marks it automatically. He rates the set "moderate" on difficulty. When he taps rest, the audible 90-second timer starts, the screen dims so it doesn't bother the person at the next bench.

7:45 PM · End of session

Marcus logged 6 exercises, 18 sets. The session summary shows total volume (4,620 kg lifted), three PRs, and a muscle recovery update. Next time he opens the app, bench press will suggest 82.5 kg, one standard plate step up, based on how he rated that last set. No guessing, no spreadsheet.

Weekend · No signal

Marcus travels for work. He's at a hotel gym with no Wi-Fi and his data is capped. Personal Trainer opens the same as always, all plans, all history, all suggestions stored locally. He logs the session, it syncs later when he reconnects. Nothing was lost.

What Personal Trainer doesn't do

Knowing what a tool won't do saves you time. Personal Trainer is deliberately focused.

No AI form analysis

The app doesn't use your camera to assess movement. It provides written form cues and a one-tap YouTube link per exercise, but real-time video feedback is not part of it. For video coaching, you'd pair it with a replay tool.

No built-in nutrition tracking

Personal Trainer tracks sets, reps, and load, not macros or calories. If you need a food log, use a dedicated app alongside it. The two concerns are separate, and mixing them tends to make both worse.

No live coaching or community feed

There's no social feed, no comment section, no in-app personal trainer to message. The friends leaderboard compares totals, it's competition, not coaching. If you want a human coach reviewing your programming, that's a different product.

No subscription

This is a feature, not a limitation, but worth stating clearly. VIP Premium is one payment, forever. There's no monthly tier to cancel, no paywall that grows over time. The price you see is the price you pay, once.
